Robbie Knight (2011)

Rob was awarded his Life Membership in 2011 for his dedication to playing, coaching our junior teams and his work on the Management Committee.

Rob played 18 seasons for our Club from 1996/97 to 2013/14 with many of the latter years as senior Captain. His junior coaching record is second to none having coached for 15 consecutive seasons and a record of 7 premierships and 4 runners up.

Rob was a very active member of our Club’s Management Committee holding down the unenvious position of Promotions and Advertising Officer for 5 seasons from 2003/04 to 2007/08. Rob also held the position of Club Coach for 3 seasons from 2009/10 to 2011/12 and initiated and co-ordinated the school visits that were so effective in driving our registrations.

The below quote from Club President Gordon Scott in his 2003/04 Annual Report sums up the passion Rob puts into his work for our Club – “Another club stalwart needs special mention. Robbie Knight. Not only does he play in the senior competition for the club, but he also coached the 12A’s who narrowly missed being premiers, this year Robbie walked the streets of Engadine and obtained few thousand dollars sponsorship from local businesses for the club. No one asked him to do it; he just did it of his own free will for our club. Heaps and heaps of thanks Robbie from everyone involved with the Dragons”.
