John Carlisle (2002)

John was one of the mainstays of the committee in the 1990’s, and our second longest serving Treasurer (13 years). He was a solid worker for the Club always helping out whenever required. His son Stephen, commenced with the club at 7 years of age in the 10C’s (1986-87), with coach, Ken Miller. He missed the following season but played 10C’s again in 1988-89. He played 12D’s in 1989-90 under Coach, Cecil La Crosse, a man who had two daughters but loved cricket. In 1990-91 he played 12A’s and continued to play in “A” Grade teams until finishing his junior cricket with the Club in the 1993/94 – 16A Premiership Team. Stephen returned to the Club as a senior player in 2019 and as of 2024/05 is in his 13th season for the Club.

Stephen represented the Shire in Gee, Moore and Watson Shields and played 1994-95 Green Shield for the district, taking 23 wickets. They were beaten in the final. He has since played 4th and 5th Grade with the District Club and Durham Shield in 1997-98.

John’s grandsons (Stephen’s sons) both played junior cricket for the Club and as of 2024/25 are now playing senior cricket. Laythen and Balin are both in their 12th season for the Club having commenced playing in 2013/14.
