At the conclusion of the 2022/23 season Ian was awarded with a Life Membership of our Club for 25 consecutive playing seasons for the Dragons. Ian commenced playing for the Club in the 1998/99 season in our 14E team coached by Rob Mowlam and received the “Junior Rookie of the Year” trophy as a result of scoring 227 runs @ 28.3 and taking 17 wickets @ 10.1.

Ian’s all round cricketer ability over his 190 matches for the Club has seen him consistently contribute to all the teams he has played for with a common thread throughout his career annual team reports of his brilliance as a fieldsman.

The 2022/23 season saw Ian join his brother Mark as a Life Member of our Club. Along with his younger brother Kurt the three Mitchell boys have contributed a combined total of 76 seasons for the Dragons at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. In 2023/24 Ian’s son Henry became the fourth of the Mitchell clan to play cricket for the Club bringing their combined total to 78 seasons. What an outstanding show of loyalty from one family.
